Shri Narendra Modi to inaugurate National Conference on Skill Development

To showcase the huge skill potential available in India, Government of Gujarat is organizing “National Conference on Skill Development” on September 25, 2013 at Mahatma Mandir, Gandhinagar which will be inaugurated by Gujarat Hon’ble CM and BJP’s PM candidate for 2014 General Elections, Shri Narendra Modi. It would focus on “Transforming youth through Skilling…” The conference is being inaugurated on the occasion of birth anniversary of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay.

The conference will be focused on knowledge sharing of best practices in Skill Development, creating better job opportunities for the youth, networking and encouraging participation from the Private Sector.

Skill and knowledge are the driving forces of economic growth and social development for any country. Skill development is critical for achieving faster, sustainable and inclusive growth on the one hand for providing decent employment opportunities to the growing young population on the other. Countries with higher and better levels of skills adjust more effectively to the challenges and opportunities of world of work.

India has gradually evolved as a knowledge-based economy due to the abundance of capable, flexible and qualified human capital. With the constantly rising influence of globalization, India has immense opportunities to establish its distinctive position in the world. However, there is a need to further develop and empower the human capital to ensure the nation’s global competiveness.
